Our Story

Our Story

Elephant of the Room started with a simple frustration: fashion that photographed beautifully but said nothing. We wanted clothes that spoke before the wearer did — pieces with a story stitched into every seam, not just a size tag.

Where it all began

Every EOTR piece begins in small ateliers across India, worked by hand by artisans who’ve spent decades perfecting block printing, natural dyeing, and embroidery techniques passed down through generations. Slow fashion isn’t a marketing line for us — it’s the only way we know how to make clothes.

Hand-block printing, one motif at a time

We chose the elephant as our mark because she’s patient, deliberate, and impossible to ignore. That’s exactly how we want the women who wear EOTR to feel: never the elephant in the room by accident, always by design.

Every piece, one of a kind

Today, EOTR is still a small team obsessed with the same questions we started with — where did this fabric come from, whose hands touched it, and will it still mean something in ten years? If you’re holding one of our pieces, you already know the answer.
